3 Philippine Telecom companies such as Smart, Globe and Sun Cellular are competing to get the most number of Filipinos looking for ways to connect their personal computers to the internet using mobile broadband solutions.
Just a few day ago Smart lowered its Smart Bro Prepaid USB dongle to P2,500 (i believe it was originally priced at P4,500). Even thought there are still no changes in Smart Bro’s browsing rates (P10 for 30 mins).
Next is Globe, and has started offering its Visibility Prepaid USB dongle for just P2,500 which the company correctly touted as the cheapest in the market. Usage rate is P5.00 per 15 minutes. The USB kit comes with P30.00 free load (mental note: the SIM is capable of calling & texting).
Then comes Sun Cellular which has its unlimited mobile broadband package (beat that Globe & Smart). Sun Broadand Wireless is a purely postpaid, no prepaid affair (awwww T_T). Customers can choose from these three plans: [1] Plan 799 (P799.00 for 60 hours at speeds of 400 kbps), [2] Plan 999 (P999.00 for unlimited usage at speeds of 400 kbps) and [3] Plan 1999 (P1,999 for unlimited usage at speeds of 1.4 mbps). The downside of the Sun offering is its limited reach: Sun’s HSDPA coverage.
I currently haven’t tried any of the 3 packages I have mentioned. And still trying to do more digging, research, and reading feedbacks from both unhappy and happy customers. I means, since all of them have a “lock period.”
