R.I.P. Ritchie Lei Campued (batchmate)

I just found out today that one of my batchmates died. What happened to her was tragic indeed. May she rest in peace. My condolences to her family and loved ones.

Is this the VOLTRON (live action) movie?

I really hope it is. I kinda heard some rumors that Voltron will be made into a live action movie years ago, almost the same time before Transformers live action teaser was released. Looks like the rumors are resurfacing (perfect timing if u ask me), with some cool artwork to spice things up even more. ^^

Now this totally made my day ^_^

Perfect Grades

I bought these 2 kits from HLJ.com, they had this huge sale a few months ago.

I just got this from Customs (Philippines), both was shipped via EMS (from Japan). And it has been on-hold there for almost 2 months now. why? (dont ask)… on top of that, i wasn’t even notified at all. It was all me. I was asking all around… some friends, friends or friends, relatives and even strangers… I also went to our local post-office 3 times (i think), and was just asking for the status (i have this worry that if i dont follow-up it might get lost in limbo). I even called the EMS office in Manila. The only answer they gave me was, “Just wait for it sir, it will be delivered to your local post office.” But I’m not gonna just sit and wait after 45 days since it has arrived in manila o_O

Bottomline, its not recommended to ship high value items to PH via EMS (or local post). Especially if its a high value item.

Anyhow, I’m still happy I still got my goods after paying over priced taxes. I wonder which one should I choose to build next… ^_^

An Open Letter from Bang Lu Min (Quirino Hostage Drama Survivor’s Accounts on What Happened on that Fateful Day)

If you are a filipino you should read this…

Mr. Mendoza was already upset even before he saw on television what the policemen did to his brother. The other tourists who remained inside the bus were complaining. Wei Ji Jiang wanted to go to the bathroom. Dao Chi Yu was hungry and the rest were just groaning and whining like they have forgotten that our lives rest in Mr. Mendoza’s hands. The hostage taker, as you know him was really nice. He treated us okay and even let the elders and the children leave the bus. He said your policemen treated him unfairly. He was a policeman too and was accused of doing something he had no knowledge of. But your government didn’t listen so he used us to get everyone’s attention. Things would have never turned for the worst if he didn’t see how his family was dragged out of their house and taken into custody. He was watching the news all the time as we huddled around each other behind the bus. He shouted some words in your language then started shooting in the air. A girl about my age started screaming. Mr. Mendoza demanded her to stop but she didn’t understand English. God, he had to slash her neck with a knife just to put her to rest. Her boyfriend who tried to hit him was shot in the head. Tension was rising. You can see in his face how scared and confused he was. The bus driver ran away leaving him alone with strangers from a distant land. I can see him walking across the aisle, sometimes pointing his machine gun to one of the tourists. But he tried his best not to hurt us, especially those who really cooperate. I guess its in your nature not to inflict pain on others unless it was necessary. I remember him saying that he will free us before sundown and implored us to forget everything when we return home. But his words don’t matter now. The policemen were trying to force their way in, while we all lied down to shield ourselves from bullets. Mister Mendoza blindly shoots at his enemies which I think kept them from rescuing us. I hear sobs under the chairs. Some were even shouting the names of their loved ones even when the air merely eat their words. Kevin Tang tried to escape when the glass door was was shattered, but one shot and he slumped on the floor with blood gushing from his mouth. Heavy rain pitter-pattered on the rooftop. In old Chinese saying, it means an end to a struggle. Finally, somebody was able to open the escape hatch at the back of the bus. Freedom. But I knew Mister Mendoza was still alive. I knew he was just waiting for a chance to strike back at his enemies. So I told those around me not to escape. Let the authorities come for us instead. Then there was gunfire. He was firing at his enemies with a machine gun. Those who were at the escape hatch fled abandoning us once again. It’s like a nightmare with no end and to wake up means a certain death. Then somebody from outside the bus threw a canister. It forced out a black smoke that is so painful to the eyes and putrid smelling to the nose. People started screaming. We cannot breathe. Some ran in front of the bus but Mister Mendoza warned them of stray bullets. It was too late. One was hit on the head, the other was hit on the shoulders. Bullets were now flying. Its like the authorities thought we were all dead. Mister Mendoza finally admits his mistake and said sorry to everyone, dead or alive. He then ran towards the front of the bus where he would meet his maker. As he passed by my chair with bullets whistling overhead, I clutched my hand on the velvet curtain and wrapped it around my face. All I could think of was to stay alive – for my child who is waiting for me back in Xinjang.

I know I will survive, I will come home.

MG Blue Frame Astray 2nd Revise

This was my birthday gift from my wife. ^_^ (i managed to tricker into buying me one. hehehe). Just kidding, anyway, of all the gunpla I have, she liked my master grade red frame so much, i manage to convince her that the master grade blue frame will be a perfect display shelf partner to him. And the rest is history. She didn’t know what to get me for my birthday, so I used the inception method (yes, the movie) and lead her to believe that this is what “she wants” to give me, but we all know that, it is what “I want” her to give me.

Head is very detailed. Unlike the red frame, his V-fin is inside his head armor (or helmet). which means it wont fall of very easily (like the red frame does). I almost resembles the helmet of a dirt bike rider.

Arms are exactly like the MG red frame (its just blue instead of red). that means it comes with all is awesome articulation, details and glory (if there are any).

Legs are also the same. With a few exemptions. like a retracting blades on the feet and daggers on its hips. Other that that (and the blue color), its molded the same way.

He is the blue frame side by side with the red rame. even thought its obvious that they are suppose to be the same. I still don’t feel like they are. small details make a big difference. tactical arms, shoulder armor, helmet, etc.

SD Strike Gundam Review

I was looking for this kit for a while now. And The moment I saw it on the hobby store near my home, I bought it immediately.

On most of the 1st part of this post, you will see an unpainted version of this kit. Built straight out of the box. As expected, like most SD kits, most colors are wrong and you have to paint it to make it look just right.

Like all other SD, this kit was very very easy to build. Its a good practice for me to practice my brush painting skills. (i still suck by the way). Hopefully with a little patience and alot of time, i’ll be better.

After adding some paint. here is my SD strike gundam.

Trying a few more poses, to show some articulation of this kit.

Installed iOS 4.0 on my iPhone 3G (not 3GS, not 4)

Horray for multitasking, folders, digital camera zoom, messages searching and wallpapers ^_^ (and tons more i can’t wait to explore)

http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs117.snc4/36197_1329232716438_1399561559_30752062_147182_n.jpg

the dev-team really were quick to draw this time around. just after a few hours when iOS was released, we already have redsnow 9.5 which can “hacktivate” (or jailbreak) any iPhone3G or iPod Touch 2G, unfortunately no unlock yet folks. But I have a feeling we will “soon” have this (i think)

Download links for redsn0w 0.9.5b5-3 below:

WARNING: For now, the redsn0w beta release supports only the iPhone3G and iPod Touch 2G at today’s 4.0. It’s still a beta, so you’ll need to let Cydia reorganize, reload, and update after using redsn0w.

Its fairly easy to use. I wont bother putting a tutorial in. If you know how to use a computer (Windows/OSX) you can use this.
