Jailbreak iPhone 2.1 Firmware using QuickPwn (Temp) for Windows
UPDATE: QuickPwn Windows for 2.1 is now released. you can forget these very time consuming version of unlocking/activating your iPhone ^_^
Windows QuickPwn 2.1 Direct Downloads:
- http://www.alekserviz.com/adamov/QuickPwn2.1Win/QuickPwn21-1.zip
- http://download.s1.christophertran.net/devteam/quickpwn/2.1/QuickPwn21-1.zip
While we are waiting for the official WinPwn or QuickPwn for Windows for 2.1 Firmware. I have manage to googled a work around on installing 2.1 Firmware. Its not that easy, but its not that difficult as well.
I tried to make this procedure as simple as possible. Let me know if incase you have any questions.
- Download the latest 2.1 IPSW firmware from Apple (1stGen or 3G)
- Install iTunes 8 (if your still in version 7.7, upgrade to v8). You need this because you can only install 2.1 FW using iTunes8.
- Update your iPhone with firmware v2.1 using iTunes 8.
- Uninstall iTunes 8 and Apple Mobile Device Support (most people forget this)
- Reinstall the old version of iTunes, version 7.7. You can get the older version from FileHippo.
- Download QuickPwn v1.2.0 (this is version works with 2.1 FW).
- Install and run QuickPwn (this is very similar to the previous guides I posted). The only difference will be when selecting the firmware use the file (2.1 FW) that you downloaded in step 1.
- Download TotalCommander and the T-PoT addon for it.
- Install TotalCommander. Then afterwhich, install the T-PoT addon. You can do this by double clicking the “T-PoT.1.1.zip” from your TotalCommander browser.
- Connect your iPhone via the USB cable. Using TotalCommander, browse to your iPhone file system by first clicking [-/-] on the drop down menu with all the other drives. Then select or double click on [T-PoT] (which has the iPhone icon).
- You are now in your iPhone’s file system. Use TotalCommander to navigate to /System/Library/PrivateFrameWorks/MobileInstallation.framework. Just in case things don’t work out, make sure you save or back-up your existing MobileInstallation file simply by dragging the file over to the other window.
- Replace the MobileInstallation file on your iPhone using this patch version.
- Using TotalCommander, navigate to /private/var/mobile/Library/Caches/ and delete your existing com.apple.mobile.installation.plist file. Dont forget to rename or back-up the file first.
- Reboot your iPhone. And your done. ^_^

2.0.2 Pwned
I just updated my iPhone (1st gen) to the latest firmware, which is 2.0.2
It was quite easy though. I used PwnageTool 2.0.3.1. I guess its because its the same process since 2.0 was released. but when I updated my phone to 2.0.1 a few days ago, I actually used WinPwn (window version of Pwnage). I guess I just can’t stand the wait. Good thing I have my OSX86 installed on my HP laptop (dv6149us).
OK, thats all for now… wala lang kasi ako maisulat, kaya, eto yung result. ^_^
UPDATE: out of curiosity, I just reinstalled a 2.0.2 pwned firmware using a different type of window version of Pwnage, its called is QuickPwn. After using it, I was very impressed. Why?… It was quick, no more creating custom firmware crap. It’s actually very similar to the ziphone (by zibri). Hmmmm, makes me wonder.

Winpwn for 2.0.1 Firmware (with Tutorial)
Bigboss has put up a guide on how to use winpwn (which is just really the window version of Pwnage). Its an awesome tool for us people who still don’t have a mac, unfortunately i still don’t have a macbook at the moment.
Anyway, I know most of you people out there are Windows user. Which makes this window version of Pwnage very useful. Below is how i pwned my iphone. Hope it helps. let me know incase you encountered any problem(s).
- Download and Install the WinPwn application.
- Make sure you are using the latest iTunes (version 7.7 and above)
- Download Boot images for 3.9 and 4.6.
- Get Your IPSW File Ready (1stGen iPhone and iPhone3G)
- Open WinPwn and click the ‘Browse .ipsw’ button and then locate the IPSW file you are ‘pwning’ (from step 4).
- After WinPwn recognizes the ipsw file, now click the ‘IPSW Builder’ button.
- In the Applications tab click the box for Cydia (As of the moment I dont recommend ‘Installer’ simply because its still in beta), and then click the ‘YouTube Activation Fix’ box if you’re not on a official carrier network.
- In the custom images tab. I suggest that you don’t select any checkboxes, if you want to use the iPhone default logos, etc.
- You can just skip the custom payload tab (its not required).
- In the Advance tab, check all boxes except for “No Wipe” and “Update bootloader.” Then select the proper boot imageswhich you downloaded earlier in step 2.
- Just leave the root partition size to 500MB. (almost there ^_^)
- Click the ‘build .ipsw’ button at the bottom. Save your “new” custom IPSW file anywhere you want (just dont forget where you saved it ofcourse).
- After it creates your custom firmware it is time to Pwn iTunes. Click the ‘iPwner’ button and you should see an alert message saying ‘iTunes has been Pwned.’
- Close WinPwn. Then put your iPhone/iPod Touch into DFU mode. Click here if you need help with DFU mode.
- Now open iTunes, hold the ‘Shift’ key on your keyboard and then left click on the ‘Restore’ button in iTunes.
- Browse and select your custom firmware. Then just let iTunes do it’s thing. after a minute or two you should see a dialog box telling you that iTunes just restarted your device.
- Once your iPhone/iPod Touch restarts, you should see both the App Store and the Cydia icons.
note: currently Winpwn/Pwnage can only “jailbreak” iPhone3G (yet!). In other words, it still can’t activate iPhone3G. But as for the 1st gen iPhones, it can do both jailbreak and activate (here in the philippines, active is also known as unlock or open-line)

WordPress for iPhone
last week i installed this FREE WordPress app for the iphone from apple.com… Its very useful if your the blogger-on-the-go type… (unlike me) … anyway, its pretty useful, but lacks a bunch of features which makes wordpress famous in the 1st place… anyway, overall i like it, i may try and use it someday (which i would definitely add a note at the bottom, indicating that i used the iphone wordpress app)…
(some of my other favorite FREE iphone apps… (1) ebay, (2) google and (3) aurora feint)

iPhone 3G Apple Page (for PH)
here is the URL: http://www.apple.com/iphone/countries/ph/
at least its 100% sure and safe to say that globe will be the official carrier for the iphone 3g here in the Philippines… i just stumbled on thier website and found this on apple.com website… the problem is wala sila online payment (just like the apple stote)… i guess, it would be more convinient (especially for people like me, who prefer buying online) to purchase an iphone using creditcard than going to some store and buying the phone from there… sana lang… haizzzz T_T
